VOTING FOR NEW SEVEN NATURAL WONDERS OF AFRICA ENDS ON DECEMBER 31, 2012

Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) wishes to inform Tanzanians and the general public that the competition to vote for entries into the list of SEVEN NATURAL WONDERS OF AFRICA, conducted via the Website, http://sevennaturalwonders.org involving twelve (12) tourist attraction sites on the African continent will come to an end on December 31, 2012. Tanzania was the only blessed country with the most entries in the list: these are Mount Kilimanjaro, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti National Park.

Tanzania Tourist Board, would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all those who voted for Tanzania tourist attractions and requests all those who have not yet casted their votes to seize this opportunity and vote for the entry of all the Tanzania tourist attractions into the list of the NEW SEVEN NATURAL WONDERS OF AFRICA.

TTB STAFF JOIN ‘UHURU EXPEDITION’ TO MARK 51 YEARS AT THE PEAK OF MT.KILIMANJARO.

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) in collaboration with KJ Traders and Serengeti Breweries this year organized a Mount Kilimanjaro climb under the name of Uhuru Expedition which coincided with cerebrations marking 51 years of Tanzania Mainland Independence.

Central players in the event which attracted 38 participants were TTB staff, Members of Parliament, Serengeti Breweries staff  alongside officers from the Tanzanian Peoples’ Defense Force (TPDF), and guests from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.

The importance of the campaign was driven home by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Khamis Kagasheki, when he received the climbers at Marangu gate and declared that, as from now, his Ministry would take the responsibility of making this an annual event. The gathering of these notable figures and their efforts to climb Mount Kilimanjaro also set the rolling stone towards promoting domestic tourism in the country, encouraging Tanzanians to visit world famous tourist attractions of the country.

Accompanied by the Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner, Leonidas Gama, the Minister awarded certificates of achievement to nine participants who conquered Mount Kilima-njaro peak. They are, Mr. Peter J. Mkumbo (Tanzania Tourist Board), Mr. Elia Malaki (Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism), Maj. Gen. C.K. Gimonge (Kibo Breweries), Mr Steve Ganno (Kibo Breweries), Maj. S.H. Mnumbe (TPDF), Lt. K.M. Marjeby (TPDF), Pte. Kassanga A.M.(TPDF), Pte. Makala E.D. (TPDF) and Mr. Valentine Offoro (Mwananchi Communications).

In consonance with the campaign, the TTB Board Chairman, Ambassador Charles Sanga, requested Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) to reduce fees in order to enable more Tanzanians to participate in Mount Kilimanjaro climbing.

The event took place from 6th to 10th of December, 2012.

MPs AND TTB STAFF JOIN OTHERS TO CELEBRATE 51 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE DAY ON TOP OF MOUNT KILIMANJARO.

Tanzania Tourist Board in collaboration with KJ Traders, and Serengeti Breweries organized a Mount Kilimanjaro climb to mark 51 years of Tanzania Mainland. Out of the 38 people who ascended the mountain, the Members of Parliament were special invitees to this event that gave a new start towards promoting domestic tourism. The others included Army personnel from Tanzanian People’s Defense Force, Staff of Tanzania Tourist Board and guests from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.

The event took place from 6th to 10th of December this year and it took three days to climb the Great Mount Kilimanjaro and two days for the descend. On 10th December around 3.00PM the climbers were down on the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro at KINAPA gate where they were met by the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism Hon. Ambassador Khamis Kagasheki(MP) accompanied by the Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioners Hon. Leonidas Gama. The Chief guest Hon. Ambassador Kagasheki then awarded certificates of appreciation to the participants in their effort to climb the mountain.   Mr. Peter J. Mkumbo (Tanzania Tourist Board), Mr. Elia Malaki (Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism), Maj Gen C.K. Gimonge (Kibo Breweries), Mr Steve Ganno (Kibo Breweries), Maj S.H. Mnumbe (TPDF), Lt K.M. Marjeby (TPDF), Pte Kassanga A.M.(TPDF), Pte Makala E.D. (TPDF) and Mr. Valentine Offoro (Mwananchi Communications) were given special appraisal for being amongst those few from the team to be able to reach till the peak of  Mount Kilimanjaro. Hon. Ambassador Kagasheki, praising the success of this occasion said “Indeed this is a wonderful event and I think it should be the responsibility of my ministry to take care of this event every year.”

The gathering of these notable figures and their efforts to climb Mount Kilimanjaro also set the rolling stone towards promoting domestic tourism in the country, encouraging Tanzanians to visit world famous tourist attractions of the country. In this context, Chairman of Board of Directors of Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), Ambassador Charles Sanga has requested Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) to reduce the fee for mountain climbing for the Tanzanians, specifically. Noting this request, TANAPA has promised to improve the environment of the mountain in order to attract more visitors.

Ruaha National Park has just been named as the Best Winter Trip destination for 2013 by the National Geographic Traveler Magazine. The Park in featured together with other 14 Tanzania National Parks in the December/ January Issue.

EGYPTIAN JOURNALISTS TO PROMOTE TANZANIA

 

The delegation of 5 journalist and one tour operator from Egypt arrived in Tanzania on 5th November 2012, aimed at acquainting, intimating, information and providing first-hand experience of Tanzania tourism products and services.

Speaking to the media, The Managing Director of Tanzania Tourist Board, Dr. Aloyce K. Nzuki elaborated that the familiarization trip is to intensify the tourism marketing and promotion campaign in Arabic market.

Apart from that Dr. Nzuki said “the result of this trip is to sensitize Egyptian citizen by producing the TV programs which will be published in their local channels and DVDs in three different languages; Arabic, English and French. These DVDs will cover among other tourist sites; Ngorongoro crater, Serengeti National Park, Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar.

Nermin Nazim from Nile TV International of Egypt expressed her excitement on what they have seen in Tanzania especially the beauty of people, she insisted this is the best way to take us back to our root “United Africa”.

Since the Egypt Air establishes the direct flight from Egypt to Tanzania, the number of tourist has increased. Yearly Tanzania receives about 25,000 tourists from Egypt.

A  7 days familiarization trip organized by The Tanzania Tourist Board in collaboration with The Tanzania Embassy in Egypt, Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, Tanzania National Park and the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism.

ATA TO HOLD SEVENTH ANNUAL PRESIDENTIAL FORUM ON TOURISM IN NEW YORK

Zambia and Zimbabwe Join Tanzania and South African Airways as Sponsors of

High-Level Tourism Event in New York

 

NEW YORK, September 25, 2012 – Today, the Africa Travel Association (ATA) announced that Zambia and Zimbabwe will co-sponsor the seventh annual ATA Presidential Forum on Tourism, joining the Tanzania Tourist Board and Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), as well as South African Airways (SAA). ATA’s highest profile U.S.-based event will be held on Thursday, September 27 at New York University’s Kimmel Center.

As co-sponsors, Honorable Sylvia Masebo, Zambia’s Minister of Tourism and Arts and Honorable Walter Mzembi, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and President of the Africa Travel Association, will deliver opening remarks, providing an update on the upcoming United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly meeting to be co-hosted by the two neighboring countries in Livingstone and Victoria Falls in August 2013. More than 126 countries are expected to participate in this international tourism event.

After the opening remarks, both Tourism Ministers will participate in an interactive roundtable on the benefits of tourism. Participating ministers also include Honorable Fatou Mas Jobe Njie, Gambia’s Minister of Tourism and Culture and ATA’s immediate past President, Honorable Utoni Nujoma, Namibia’s Foreign Minister of Namibia and Chief Secretary of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The Presidential Forum will be held on the fourth floor of the Kimmel Center for University Life at 60 Washington Square South, between Thompson and La Guardia, at New York University on Thursday, September 27 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Doors open at 9:00 am. The ATA YPP Roundtable will take place from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Room 802 in the Kimmel Center.
