PROJECT RATIONALE (HISTORICAL BACKGROUND)

In the early 1960s when most African countries were in the process of transition from colonial rule to self rule there was much optimism among the people that the new era was to going provide freedom to be and top do all that was necessary for proper development of all people and place. Yes most of our countries got their independent and declared war on the 3 key enemies to development; disease, poverty and illiteracy. 40+ years down the road of our history we are still by and large struggling with this same enemies and one wonder what future holds for our people, Tanzania included.

  • With a population of over 39millions people, today Tanzania is making major strides to fight these enemies of sustainable development but many hurdles remain to be cleared.45% of the population is below14 years old, there is a population growth of over 1.2 per cent and with about 12,700 primary schools and teacher student ratio of about 1:57 there is no question the government cannot be left to deal with this challenge alone.
  • There are today still many children in some parts if the country aged between 9 – 13 years who have never been to school at all.
  • While access to primary school has greatly improved through the new millennium universal primary education policy of the government the percentage of those that proceed from primary to secondary school has remained very low due to a minimal number of secondary schools.
  • When the few who get finish their secondary schooling even fewer get a opportunity to proceed to higher education or tertiary intuition.

There can never be sustainable development in any society without good education and objective education that trains its participant to grow in knowledge and skills that will be applicable in bringing economic growth for both the personal and the society in general.

The challenges on the new millennium for Tanzania are well spelt out; education will be a key tool in spurning economic growth that will in turn deal a death blow to poverty and disease the old time enemies of our people

Education is no longer a privilege in the modern times, good education is imperative for the development of our people both socially and economically. It’s the right of every child to learn how to read and write but more so to learn more that the basics but for on to specialize and build a career it’s b he best inheritance a parent can give their child in the modern times.

We are strong motivated

May the children of the Tanzania find a home in him who created them and learn from him to build a nation for posterity?

WHY RED HOUSE ENGLSIH MEDIUM SCHOOL

Having considered the challenges of the new millennium and with a call to bring a difference in Tanzania, African Women Welfare Group (AWWG) feels they have a responsibility to join hand with the movement of Tanzania and the people of our locality in making a difference. AWWG, has decided to open a school .The aim of the school is to bring about quality education to the children in these villages and help upgrade their lives .The school will accommodate children from the age of three and upwards. It will run from nursery to primary education. The school will offer children in these villages get a good education and help eradicate the low illiteracy levels, poverty and social barriers that has surrounded the local inhabitants.

We recognize that it’s the policy of the governments in its Education and training policy (1995) to:

  • Improve access to education at all level
  • Provide education equitably to all people
  • Provision of good and quality education
  • Improve the management of education and better the facilities thereof
  • Finally seek to design ways of bringing about equitable and sustainable financing of education.

With this understanding in mind we AWWG having engaged the local people and being involved in various community based initiative have realized that we have a part to play in designing the future of this nation and its people through investing into the young generation.

We have therefore an objective in and through this project to provide our children with education that is:

Accessible: We plan to build a school that will be within the community so that the children of the community have choice to go to school and both to travel far to get to a school. With this in mind we plan later on to make the school includes boarding facilities so that children from far can also have a chance to study with us.

Quality: We do not want just to build another we want to build a school that combines the quality of facilities, teaching techniques, and teachers and end output. With this in mind we have made the school to be an English medium pre-school and primary school with a focus on holistic education that seeks to develop the child mentally, physically and spiritually.

Continuous and sustainable: We have a desire not only to run the primary level and also to later on building a secondary/ high school and a tertiary college so that our children can study all the way until they have a career with which they can build their lives and those of their fellow – countrymen.

Wholesome: with the aspects of globalization catching –up with us so fast tradition methods of education while basic and helpful they may not be all sufficient. We target to improve on the basic curriculum by introducing other subject like Music, Computers, vocational courses and international languages.

Our objectives are to ‘provide an education that has a vision and that gives a vision to the children of this nation concerning their future.’
