ORGANIZATION STATUS
Kazi ni Dawa [KAniDA] which is a non-governmental organisation established and registered officially by the government of Tanzania. Legally registered under the NGO Act Number 24 of 2002, on 30th of December 2009 with registration number 00NGO/00003664.
The organization was started by women in Muheza to fight what they saw as injustice to women. They realized that human rights are not properly observed in their communities. In particular women were the major victims. Economically, women had less economic opportunities and lower incomes than men; politically, their participation in decision making processes is much lower than that of men; socially, women were sometimes held just as objects of pleasure by men. It is the need to fight these injustices that made some female workers, retirees, petty traders and housewives to form KAniDA.
