Save Young Mothers was duly formed early 2011

when I went to my village at Nshmba .I realised that so many

young girls had kids and were just hanging arround because

their men had damped them. It was so sad that most of them

were kidnapped on their grade seven graduation ceremony. It

is a custom at the village that once a girl sleeps out side her

home,she is not supposed go back regardless what reason.

And any one who dares to do so, is regarded asan out cast. The only thing

that is done,the kidnapper cerebrates with fellow men

as the girl is tied up with strong ropes deeply crying witout help.

The day after ,parents are informed and from then the girl is regarded as a wife.

It is so bad but true, as a result ,by the time grade seven results are out,

many girls are already married. The national law prohibits this, but practically 90%

of women are married this way. Because this marriage is done against their will and readiness,it does not last. There are so many girls who have been affected and would love to proceed with their education esspecially those who recieved good resilts and could

not proceed.
