OBJECTIVES OF PRISON FELLOWSHIP TANZANIA
We have ten categorized objectives:
1. Capacity building on human right -improve justice system ...................
2.To enhance social- economic development to provide physical, social and moral assistance to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families.......................
3. To rehabilitate and reintegrate prisoners and ex-prisoners..................
4.To create opportunities in the rehabilitation of discharge prisoners.......,,
5.To contribute towards curbing of crime at its roots and thus contributing to national development...........................................................
6.To co- ordinate and cooperate with other bodies who are involved in working with prisoners , ex-prisoner and their families...............................
7. To identify and train prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families and provide basic skills though non-formal education.......................................
8.To provide programme in the areas of conflict prevention, conflict management and conflict resolution........................................................
9.To provide counseling to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families..........
10. To care for hidden victims of crime, children and mothers..................
REGIONAL ALCOHOL CONFERENCE--- IRINGA .
The conference was held at NEEMA CRAFT CENTRE IRINGA. In welcoming the participants and guest of honour, the conference organizer thanks all stakeholders and participants to make this conference possible in Iringa.
The conference was organized by the local NGO called IDYDC and sponsered by National NGO called IOGT-NTO MOVEMENT of Dar es salaam. The participants included NGO's leaders ,government officials, religious groups, and the media. The theme of this regional alcohol conference was: ALCOHOL IS AN OBSTACLE TO DEVELOPMENT.
WHY PRISON FELLOWSHIP TANZANIA PARTICIPATED? Among other organization's area of working is to contribute towards curbing of crime at its roots and thus contributing to national development. Prison Fellowship Tanzania will keep on addressing the alcohol issue due to the fact that alcohol ia among the main significant causes of crime inTanzania. Alcohol-related crime in Tanzania incudes high risks sexual behaviour resulting in HIV infection, domestic violences, child abuse. Other alcohol consequences are poverty, street children, and health problems- damage to brain cells, increase the risk of high blood pressure and damage to heart musclees.
