JECA is an acronym for Jozani Environmental Conservation Association. JECA is a community based, non governmental organization established in 1998 and officially registered in May 31 1999 as NGO under society Act number 6 of 1995 and given registration number 95

JECA is working with local communities in nine villages/ shehia surroundingJozaniChwakaBayNational Park. Some of these villages are located in Central District and some of them in south District. These villages are:-

Jozani/Pete, Kitogani, Bwejuu, Michamvi, Ukongoroni, Charawe,Cheju, Chwaka, and Unguja Ukuu. The livelihood of these communities affect, and is affected by the existence of JozaniForestandChwakaBaymangroves and marine environment
