ORGANISATION FOR CHILD, YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT SUPPORT (OCYWES)
INTRODUCTION (ABOUT OCYWES) OCYWES is an acronym for Child, Youth and Women Empowerment Support established in 2nd July 2004, by pressure group that was inspired to support institutional effort towards vulnerable and marginalized Women and Children in Poverty Circle. Initial Founder members were sixteen persons during the date of registration 16th August 2004. OCYWES REG. SO NO. 12665 However, number of members has increased tremendously by 100% to 34 members by March, 2010 (photocopy of registration is enclosed too). The head quarters of the Organization is located at Tabora road, Plot no: 16 Block B, in Kahama Township. (Please see the list of current members attached hereby) 2.0. DISTRICT PROFILE IN SUMMARY. Kahama District is located Southern Part of the region with the Population of approximately 848,738 People by 2011. District has second highest population whereas total villages are 232 in 55 Wards. The average rainfall reception is between 600 mm to 1200mm, decreasing eastward. Tobacco and Cotton are major district cash crops while maize: cassava, sweet potatoes and rice pad are staple food crops. There is a great mineral potential characterized by small scale diamond mining at Nyang’wale, big scale Gold Mining at Bulyanhulu in Kakola ward and Buzwagi Gold Project under pipeline, providing, sufficient employment opportunities of up to 3, 000. The District has great communication and transport access though air, road and railways. There is small airport at Bulyankulu, & Mwendakulima a railway station and dry port (biggest in mainland) at Isaka, a tarmac road link to Rwanda, Burundi, Congo via Isaka and Tinde from Dar-es-Salaam, Mwanza and Shinyanga Township, 3.0. OBJECTIVES 3.1.0. To facilitate the process that creates enabling environment for female and youth development and to have greater and timely access to education support services, Vocational Training including information technology and computer skills. 3.2.0. To promote economical and welfare of Women and Youth community against poverty jangle, through Entrepreneurship Skills, employment, and by networking and collaboration with development institutions like District Council, villages training institutions and partner civil societies and international NGOs, 3.3.0 To promote Environment Conservation Education at grass root level in rural areas including public health, conservation of water sources, forests, land use and planning for sustainable development. 3.4.0. To participate in capacity building of the Kahama Civil Societies and implementation in creation of community Development projects that address the Effects of poverty and any other significant social program. 4.1 VISION To have a society with improved living standard of Children, Youth and Women who consider the world and their Environment as the best place to live, free of Children deadly diseases, fear, discrimination and starvation life of living below one dollar per day. 4.2 MISSION STATEMENT To work diligently with grass root Society and partner Institutions in introducing new and best practices, access to support services and technical knowledge in a bid to achieve desired development and cultural change. 4.3. OUR MOTTO Commitment to people and restoring hope is nationalism spirit and a key to civilized and peaceful society 5.0. OCYWES DIRECT BENEFICIARIES 1. CHILDREN FROM RURAL AREAS Not all Children will receive support from OCYWES, but focus is vested to Orphans, street children (homeless children) and those vulnerable with poverty and diseases. Around 250 Children are projected for outreach annually by year 2012. Age range from 5years old to 17. 2. YOUTH: Young people particularly girls who have missed opportunities in formal system of Education and Vocation training is given high priority to our programs. Normally girls, who failed to get future preparations, do fall victims of prostitutions and juvenile delinquency such as marijuana smoking and drug addict. At least 150 young people aged between 15-25 years old will be reached every year by 2013.
3. WOMEN In African context, women play central role in household daily operations and progress. They take care of children welfare, health and education. They fetch water and fire woods from distant sources and the work hard in fields where as there is crop cultivation. 6.0. NETWORKING AND REGIONAL CO-OPERATION. OCYWES works closely with village and Ward Executive Officers in Mwendakulima and Kahama Urban, World Vision Tanzania, National Social Security Fund, SHEDEPHA+, Some Schools in the District such as Mhongolo, Kishimba, Isagehe and Seeke Secondary school all of Kahama. OCYWES has already started linkage with Bukombe District Council, Social Action Trust Fund, and TACAIDS & FORUM for Kahama NGO’s and SHINGONET. In addition OCYWES expects to work with the Foundation for Civil Society. 7.0. PROJECT BACKGROUND 7.1. TRAINING PROGRAMMES. Immediately after establishment, OCYWES procured four computers for Youth training in 2004. On average, the Organization through its computers training programs ,trains 40 girls and boys annually, henceforth about 320 Youth have received computer skills and training since 2004 up to September 2010. 60% of the intakes were privately sponsored while 40% was through OCYWES own resources, due to lack of support from their families because of acute poverty and AIDS Orphanage- dilemma.

7.2. ORPHANAGE AND HID/AIDS STUDY AND SUPPORT SERVICES OCYWES has so far done the following:-
7.3 ACHIEVEMENTS TO DATE. OCYWES has recorded satisfactory success in intervention with Orphans as well as HIV/ AIDS study – since 2004.
8.0 ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT The final decision making power is vested under the general meeting of all members. (Sect. 2.1. of OCYWES constitution spells about). The Managing Board in second in charge authority empowered after the General Meeting whereas is works on behalf of the General Meeting. The Chairman of the Managing Board is elected by the General Meeting. The Executive Official who leads and coordinates day to day programs as a programs officer is a Secretary General.
